Why apply for the scholarship? Do It! Invest in yourself, in your community, and in the world. The arts are a powerful force and now more than ever, the world is in need of artists, musicians, actors, dancers, and creators who are truly excellent at their craft and are thinking intentionally about leveraging their art for the benefit of society. Don't let anyone tell you a career in the arts is unachievable.
My Story
When I received the Beguelin Scholarship, I was an undergraduate student at Cedarville University pursuing my Bachelor of Music Degree in Violin Performance. The scholarship was instrumental in funding my college tuition and allowed me to continue studying music and violin at a high level. After graduation, I moved to Memphis, Tennessee and received my Master's degree in Violin Performance from the University of Memphis. I also started working at the Second Presbyterian Church where I continue to direct music and worship for junior and senior high youth as well as young adults. As we pursue racial reconciliation in Memphis, it is my goal to use the power of music to bring people together in shared experience and community. In addition to my church work, I am the director of string ensembles at Westminster Academy and I have performed as a violinist for the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. It is amazing to see how I use all aspects of my music education in what I currently do.
